I added an index to my site so it will be a bit easier to navigate. I broke all the posts up into categories. This is definitely a work in progress but it’s a start!

I’ve seen a lot of gritty-looking portraits and I like them. However, a lot of them are… well… a little on the ugly side. I mean, that’s usually the point.
A lot of times, the subject is staring into the camera with a sad or a mean expression. I wanted to experiment with something different – instead of gritty-ugly, I wanted gritty-pretty!
VIPs, log in for a gallery of images and a making-of video where I talk about how I set up the shoot, how I edited the photos to get that gritty look, and the challenges I came across!

A lot of viewers ask me about making portrait clients more comfortable in front of the camera. Many people (especially women!) are uncomfortable with certain parts of their body, especially when doing more risque photos. Wardrobe choices can make a big difference in how a client feels during a shoot and also about the finished product! In this video, I talk about wardrobe options that can help. I include photo examples from a self portrait shoot I did.

I had an action-packed weekend at the Grand Canyon! I hiked, took tons of photos and even fit in a photo shoot in the woods! It was sunrise and the light filtering through the trees made the look so surreal! I edited all the photos in Snapseed on my iPad because I knew the filters there would enhance that fantasy-like look. Here’s a peek…
For my VIPs, I have a sizable gallery for you, plus a video providing you with some behind-the scenes info, like camera details and posing tricks!

I did a photo shoot with some of my favorite things last week. This week, I was thinking that I didn’t spend enough time on my VERY favorite things – my cameras! So here’s what I came up with the second time around…
A little bit 1970s librarian, I think!

You know I love a good DEATHMATCH! In this match, I refereed the Nikon D3100 versus the Canon Rebel T3i.
I’ve been itching to experiment with interesting shadow looks for a while now. So, I set out to create an edgy look… with a little bit of seduction, of course!
Here’s a sample image I processed in SnapSeed…

!-- see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php -->In my research for the Nikon D3100 versus Canon T3i DEATHMATCH, I did a three-part photo shoot. The first part was me in the studio, the second part was me outside, and the third part was on a tripod, photographing Legos!
The DEATHMATCH video isn’t ready for viewing yet, but I’ve compiled a few photos from the T3i as a preview. For the VIPs, I’ve included a gallery of 15 images! These images are unedited so be kind!
I’ll be posting a few of the full-sized versions when I post the DEATHMATCH for all you pixel-peepers out there…

Some newer DSLRs allow you to customize the monochrome settings, from adjusting contrast and brightness to adding colored filters. In this VIP-exclusive video, I show you how to find and use the monochrome settings in the Nikon D3100. I show you examples of black and white photos in the video. I also included the images in a gallery!
